Denver Boutique Launches New Design Brand

Modern Bungalow Furniture and Design is expanding its portfolio with a new in-house brand, introducing a collection that blends traditional craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics. The Denver-based retailer, long recognized for its Amish-built solid-wood furniture, is now launching Modern Bungalow Furniture and Design as a distinct entity to offer curated home pieces alongside its existing showroom inventory. The first pieces in this new collection make their debut with dedicated showroom space within the company’s existing brick and mortar location.

Debut Pieces and Custom Options

The initial rollout features two bar stations: the Oakland Wine Bar and the Overton Coffee Bar. Both items are handcrafted by skilled Amish artisans, according to the company’s merchandising manager. The Oakland Wine Bar stands 66 inches high and measures 44 inches wide by 20 inches deep. It offers ample storage for bottles, glasses, spirits, and accessories, making it a perfect addition for entertaining guests. The coffee bar brings the same, meticulously Amish-crafted design to the daily ritual of coffee. At 77.5 inches high and 42 inches wide by 19 inches deep, the unit includes a pull-out shelf for a coffee machine and provides generous storage for mugs, beans, filters, and other accessories.

Both pieces are available with bespoke options, allowing customers to select specific wood species and finishes to match their desired aesthetic. Kel Norman, who oversees merchandising, noted that this customization is a key feature of the new launch. Matt Hubbard, a co-owner, explains that the collection honors the Craftsman and Amish-built heritage customers expect by introducing pieces with a contemporary twist.

Future Plans and Showroom Updates

Later this summer, Modern Bungalow plans to add a line of Prairie-style rugs designed by Colorado-based Julie Leidel. Described as a Roycroft Renaissance Master Artisan, Leidel’s work combines Prairie influences with subtle Bohemian elements and geometry reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright. The company also announced a redesign of its physical showroom. The space will feature a curated mix of forms, materials, and influences. This mix includes traditional styles, mid-century modern looks, and farmhouse designs. Officials stated that the goal is to create an environment where customers feel a sense of familiarity while discovering new options.

With additional plans to continue expanding their line in the coming months, Modern Bungalow anticipates introducing bedroom furnishings, occasional tables and dining furniture. While the new brand focuses on modern design twists, the underlying manufacturing remains rooted in heritage. The co-owners emphasize that the new items fit within the broader tradition of Amish-built furniture. They suggest that the high level of detail in the pieces reflects a commitment to quality that extends beyond the product itself.

The furniture is sold through appointments or in-person visits, with staff available to assist with customization and selection. The company hopes to make the process of shopping for custom furnishings less intimidating by offering guidance. “We know it can be intimidating to shop custom furnishings and décor,” says Hubbard. “We want to help with the process and illustrate that one can have what they want at surprisingly reasonable prices.” “Furniture is a matter of trust,” say Hubbard and Norman. “Pride in manufacturing and attention to detail come with care and guidance from our highly trained staff. We welcome appointments, or customers may visit us in-person and request assistance.”
